Starting with a new dentist can feel a little uncertain, and we get it. Our goal is to make your first visit feel less like a dental appointment and more like catching up with someone who genuinely wants to help. Here is what you can expect when you walk through our doors for the first time:

Our team will greet you by name and make sure you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. If you have any anxiety about dental visits, please let us know. We have experience working with patients of all comfort levels and will always go at a pace that works for you.

A Thorough Exam

Your first visit will include a comprehensive dental exam. Dr. Freund or Dr. Van Kirk will review your dental and medical history, take any necessary X-rays, and perform a full evaluation of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. This gives us a complete picture of where things stand and helps us create a care plan tailored to your needs.

A Clear Conversation

We believe you should always understand what is going on in your own mouth. We will walk you through our findings in plain language, answer your questions honestly, and discuss any recommended treatment, along with your options, before anything happens.

At Altitude Dental, we strive to make quality dental care as accessible and convenient as possible. We accept all dental insurance plans and will gladly submit the necessary claims and documentation to your insurance provider on your behalf.

Please note that we are not contracted with specific insurance networks and are considered an out-of-network provider for most dental plans. Most insurance plans still provide out-of-network benefits, and we encourage you to contact your insurance provider before your visit to better understand your coverage and benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions for New Patients

Do I need to have dental insurance to become a patient?

Not at all. We welcome patients with or without insurance. Our team will work with you on payment options and make sure you understand the cost of your care upfront.

How long will my first appointment take?

Plan for about 60 to 90 minutes for a new patient exam and cleaning. This gives us enough time to get to know you, complete a thorough evaluation, and take care of any routine preventive care.

I haven't been to the dentist in a long time. Is that okay?

Absolutely. You are not the first, and you certainly will not be the last. Our team is judgment-free. We’re just glad you’re here, and we will start from where you are today.

Where is Altitude Dental located in Bozeman?

We are located at 1125 West Kagy Boulevard, Suite 200, in Bozeman, MT 59715. We are easy to find and offer convenient parking. Patients come to us from throughout the Gallatin Valley, including Belgrade, Four Corners, Manhattan, and beyond.

How do I transfer my dental records from my previous dentist?

Just let us know and we will help make it easy. You can request that your previous provider send records directly to our office, or bring any X-rays or documentation you have with you to your first appointment.

What if I have dental anxiety?

You are in good company. Dental anxiety is very common, and our team is experienced in working with patients who feel nervous or apprehensive. Just tell us how you are feeling when you arrive. We will listen, take our time, and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way.
